Early Court Dockets

Several Licking County court dockets survived the 1875 Courthouse fire.  A docket is a schedule of court cases, or a list or summary of the legal proceedings of a court case. Dockets normally show the names of the plaintiff and defendant, along with notations about the proceedings of the case.  Earlier Licking County dockets have less information than later ones, yet they can still be helpful for determining when a person might have been in the county, or learning what sorts of crimes or lawsuits occurred during a certain period.
