Interns at the Records & Archives Department

Interns Jennifer Seymour and Matthew Jones have been assisting the Records & Archives Staff with valuable projects. Both Jennifer and Matthew are undergraduate students at Ohio State Newark. Jennifer is majoring in history, and Matthew is majoring in English. In 2011, Jennifer organized hundreds of files from the Tuberculosis Sanitorium, which operated in Licking Country from 1932 to 1967. These files contain Diagnostic Chest Chart records, which provide information about tuberculosis patients such as dates of birth, current and former places of residence, occupations, possible sources of infection, histories of illnesses, present symptoms, the results of physical examinations and sketches of masses in the patients’ upper bodies. Jennifer also created a database of patients’ names and associated information, and she wrote a finding aid which explains the arrangement of the records and their value to researchers. Currently Jennifer is creating a list of the county offic
